PRESLEY BENDZA
Teaching Philosophy: My teaching philosophy is to ensure I provide a quality education for all students in a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment. I believe my role as an educator is to support every student with their learning aspirations, offer flexibility and apply creativity, and to create balance and a sense of belonging within my classroom community. I also believe in leading by example, being an active listener, and teaching from the heart. Therefore, I promise to show up dedicated to lifelong learning, with an open-mind and optimistic attitude for all the opportunities Inclusive Education brings.
TEACHING QUALITY STANDARD (TQS)
6. ADHERING TO LEGAL FRAMEWORK AND POLICIES
During the Law and Ethics in Education course (EDUC 525), I read many legal cases and learned about maintaining an awareness of, and responding in accordance with, requirements authorized under the Education Act and other relevant legislation. Throughout my teaching experiences I have knowledgeably demonstrated engaging in practices consistent with policies and procedures established by the school authority, by obtaining copies of these important documents to read through upon my arrival to the school.
For our final group assignment in the course, we researched and wrote about expected off-duty teacher conduct, the legal standard with which teachers are held and ethical implications. This learning experience, as evidenced by the PDF artefact, helped me in recognizing that the professional practice of a teacher is bound by standards of conduct expected of a caring, knowledgeable and reasonable adult entrusted with the custody, care or education of students.
